James H. West (1926-2010) founded West Rhode & Roberts, Certified Public Accountants, in 1997. In his role as managing partner until his death in 2010, he also served as director of the firm's business valuation and litigation support groups.

Mr. West received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Mr. West was formerly with Ernst & Ernst, leaving to establish West, Turnquist & Schmitt, the predecessor to West Rhode & Roberts.

Throughout his career Mr. West widely served his profession, offering his expertise as Director of the California Society of CPAs; President of the San Diego Chapter of CPAs; Chairman of The American Group of CPA Firms; a member of the Board of Advisors to the USC School of Accountancy; a member of the USD Accountancy Executive Board; a member of the American Institute of CPAs; and as a member of the AICPA Management, Accounting Practice Committee.

Mr. West also served his community extensively. A partial list of positions he held during his lifetime includes: Board of Governors of the American Red Cross; Treasurer of Sharp Healthcare; Director of the San Diego Mediation Center; President of COMBO; President of Francis Parker School; Trustee of the California Western School of Law; Treasurer of the San Diego National Sports Training Foundation; and Director of Nonprofit Management Solutions.

Mr. West was born in San Diego and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1947 and graduated from USC in 1949. Mr. West is survived by his wife, Jerry, of San Diego; two sons, Timothy, of Dallas and James, of San Diego; two brothers, Robert, of Rancho Bernardo and Gordon, of Rancho Santa Fe; and two grandchildren.
